Through legacies you are able to reach out to Shrewsbury School and establish a bond that will live on in perpetuity. By giving through your will, you will be contributing to Shrewsbury School’s excellence and success, alongside the generations before you. As a registered charity, the Foundation pays no tax on property or monies bequeathed by a legacy. In addition, a bequest, whether it is residual or specific, may have tax benefits for your estate by reducing inheritance tax.
Whilst Shrewsbury reviews and establishes areas of most need, bequests allow the donor to specify areas of particular interest. By contacting the Foundation to discuss your intentions, we can ensure that your specific wishes can be honoured. Of course depending on the size of your gift, recognition can include naming of scholarships, bursaries, rooms, buildings etc. In order to honour those individuals that have thoughtfully included the School in their will, the Trustees of the Foundation have created the 1552 Society. If you have remembered Shrewsbury School in your and would like to become a member of the1552 Society please do let us know. As always you should contact your legal advisor to discuss the specifics of your gift and associated reductions to your estate tax burden.
